New
Executive Chef
On July 23rd, 2010 the Royalton London welcomed their new Executive Chef;
Julie Yurcak to the team. Julie joined the Royalton as the Sous Chef in
March of 2010 and was recently, deservingly promoted to Executive Chef.
Julie began her culinary journey at an early age and has worked in a number
of kitchens in various roles from cook, to Sous Chef and now to Executive
Chef. She completed her Cook’s diploma at Fanshawe College and has passed
the Red Seal exam. In 2009 she won a gold medal at a prestigious culinary

the enthusiasm and strong work ethic she displays on a daily basis. Julie
thrives on the opportunity to tap into her creative side and we are
confident that our residents will benefit with new and interesting food
selections on the daily menus. Welcome Julie to the Royalton family.

desserts, coffee, tea and mocktails residents and guests enjoyed a lively
performance by Don Robertson and friends.
An
English-style Garden Party
On Saturday July 10th, 2010 we celebrated the completion of our outdoor
gardens with an english-style garden party. Residents and invited guests
dressed in their finest hats, enjoyed tea, crumpets, scones, jams,
teas and lavender punch, along with the melodic sounds of a harpist, Jan
Earnshaw. Entertainment continued with a demonstration
and display by local watercolour artist, Peter Lam. Guests were treated to a
summer fashion show of clothes supplied and modelled by Sears and the chance
to try their hand at golf on the Royalton putting green.
Canada
Day Celebrations
July 1, 2010 - Canada Day was a fun filled day from morning to night at the
London Royalton. Recreation Director, Lynda McNabb came in
early that morning to greet each resident and welcome them to a pancake and
maple syrup breakfast. Each gentleman received a Canada Day Tie and Hat and
each lady a Canada Day scarf as well as a few other Canadian trinkets to
take home with them. “They were such good sports” says Lynda as they all
adorned their apparel for the entire day.
Many people came by the Royalton that day for
tours, deliveries or to visit their families and commented on how great both
the residents and staff looked in their red and white outfits and how bright
their smiles were. A BBQ lunch was enjoyed by everyone and the socializing
only continued on throughout the afternoon as the residents and staff
gathered in the Bistro Lounge for a sing song of many Canadian songs with
retired school teacher Brent Leckie. Some of the residents even checked out
the fire works from their balcony later that evening. TRUE CANADIANS THIS
GROUP IS AND VERY PROUD OF IT
